We offer workshops and forums designed specifically for staff so you can bring useful information to bring back to your place of work.
We deeply discount our workshop fees and provide priority registration for heavily booked events.
Peer support through members meetings and socials plus networking opportunities at educational and social events. You get the feeling of being connected to an active, relevant group and have a chance to be one of the people making governance decisions.
“It’s eye-opening to turn the tables and be the member electing a board and having a say.”
After a 6-month waiting period, you get direct access to our lawyer for employment advice. There is also advice by telephone from CoAction staff and fellow members.
Our electronic newsletter is published several times a year.
We have formal representation in sector organizations in collaboration with other staff associations in Ontario.
There are two membership levels – “Voting” or “Non-voting”?
A. Voting membership criteria:
You are directly employed by a co-operative or non-profit housing provider.
You are employed by a management company providing on-site services to a co-operative or non-profit housing provider.
You are a co-op or non-profit housing worker who is temporarily employed, unemployed or retired.
If you answered yes to any of the above, your application is for a voting membership that enjoys full membership benefits.
B. Non-voting membership
You do not work in a co-op or non-profit, but wish to support CoAction in its efforts to provide representation and support to co-operative and non-profit housing workers.
If so, we welcome your application. Your support of our mission is very much appreciated.
Please note: This category comes with many membership benefits such as workshop discounts and our newsletter. Voting rights within the organization and access to legal consultation are not included.
